Subject:Transgender Day of Remembrance Vigil: THURS. NOV. 20
Time:12:16 am
International Transgender Day of Remembrance
St. Louis Candlelight Vigil: THURSDAY NOV. 20 @ 7PM
Washington University in St. Louis, South 40 Clocktower
Reception to follow in The Gargoyle in Mallinkrodt Center

Come together to mourn the people murdered in the past year due to anti-transgender violence. Hear the stories of people who were killed and help raise awareness about violence against those with differing gender identities and gender expressions. Through the vigil, we express love and respect for people in the face of national indifference and hatred. Several St. Louis religious leaders will be present to speak, but the event is not inherently religious. There will also be a discussion about the types of discrimination and hardships that transgender people face today.

Following the meeting at the South 40 clocktower, we will then proceed into into The Gargoyle in Mallinkrodt Center where our guests will speak.

Open to all and wheelchair accessible. If you have questions, or need more information, email pridewu AT gmail DOT com.

Subject:URGENT: Hate Crimes Bill!
Time:12:00 am
Please forward:

ACTION ALERT from the National Center for Transgender Equality

On THIS Thursday, the Senate will be voting on Senator Kennedy's Hate Crimes amendment to the Defense Authorization Act (S.1105). We need you to call your Senators now to urge their support of this critical bill, which would extend hate crimes protections to transgender people.

Please, call the Capitol Switchboard at 1202 224 3121 A.S.A.P.; let them know what state you are from and ask to be connected with your Senators.

The language of the amendment is identical to that passed by the US House of Representatives on May 3, 2007 (H.R.1592). It is vital that you contact your Senator today or tomorrow. As you read this, the Radical Right is mobilizing to oppose the federal hate crimes bill and attempt to prevent its passage in the Senate. They're using scare tactics and flat-out lies in hopes of killing the amendment. Make sure that your Senators hear your voice and how important this bill is to you and our community.

The Hate Crimes bill would:

* Extend existing federal protections to include "gender identity, sexual orientation, gender and disability"

* Allow the Justice Department to assist in hate crime investigations at the local level when local law enforcement is unable or unwilling to fully address these crimes

* Mandate that the FBI begin tracking hate crimes based on actual or perceived gender identity

* Remove limitations that narrowly define hate crimes to violence committed while a person is accessing a federally protected activity, such as voting.

Find your Senators' contact information: http://www.nctequality.org/visit_legislators.html

Background information about the hate crimes bill is available on NCTE'S webpage. http://nctequality.org/hatecrimes.html

Call your Senators today and urge your friends and family to do the same!

Subject:Saint Louis Pride Final Update!
Time:12:31 pm
This year Saint Louis will again be having an awesome weekend of activities for Pride and the Furs will too!

When? June 22-24, 2007 (yes, this weekend!!)

Friday night we will be meeting up for dinner at Qdoba at the corner of Arsenal and Grand at 7pm for those arriving early enough. http://www.grandsouthgrand.com/ Then over to Mokabe’s Coffee House for coffee (it’s right across from Tower Grove Park and Qdoba at the corner of Arsenal and Grand)

Saturday we will head off for food at 11am and then to the Pride Fest at Tower Grove Park. We will be at Pridefest about 1230-1pm. We will hang out there and in the Grand Avenue area till about 4-430pm

For something a little different this year, going to Incredible Pizza http://www.incrediblepizza.com/ arriving there around 5pm for dinner and games. (no plans for fursuiting since Sunday will be such a hard day on fursuiters) I have coupons for a free round of mini-golf for everyone with the purchase of the pizza buffet.

Saturday evening we will take a group to the Bad Dog Saloon for drinks, darts, pool and socializing. If you don’t care to go to the bar, Saint Louis has lots of other activities like the City Museum http://www.citymuseum.org , Galleria Mall or you can just play at Incredible Pizza.

If you are going to the Bad Dog with us, We will be leaving to arrive just before 7pm. If you are interested, they have a weekly 8 ball pool tournament. $5 buy in, bar matches and winner takes all!

Sunday, we will be meeting up at the BBH at 8am SHARP! and then grab a quick bite of breakfast at Hardee’s and then over to the Parade route for line up. Bob and Jim, two of the owners of the Bad Dog Saloon have graciously offered to let us suit up at their house which is just about a block and a half from the parade route. We will caravan over to there together and arrive at the same time. Currently the parade is scheduled to kick off at Noon, but there is rumor it might start at 11am. Sunday is predicted to be a hot summer day with a high around 94 degrees. Please plan on being out in the hot sun for several hours on pavement. We will have bottled water for everyone

This year we have again been invited by two groups to join in their parade entries

Cheap TRX, who will be doing a “Pirate” themed entry in the parade

And…

The Bad Dog Saloon, who will be doing a open community (everyone is welcome gay, straight, trans, bi, lesbian) and “Canine” themed entry.

If you want to be in the parade, I need to know which entry you want to be a part of!! This is VERY important!!

If you don’t want to be in the parade, it’s all good! Outside of Cheap TRX is a perfect vantage point to see the parade!

After the parade we will head to Chris’s Pancakes and Dining for lunch. (no set time, just depends on when we get done and out of the parade)

This is an “All Welcoming” weekend. Everyone is invited and welcome to participate in what ever they wish to. This means you don’t have to be Gay, Bi, Lesbian, Trans to participate. It’s just a perfect weekend for everyone to get together and have a good time! The “No Drama” sign will be up for the weekend.

If you would like more details or want to RSVP please email mideonwerewolf@gmail.com I need to know which events you are planning to attend, which of the Saturday dinner options you prefer and if you are planning to be in the parade, which entry you want to be a part of. I need all RSVP’s by 6/17 so we can plan accordingly!
